Three burners, 360 square inches of primary grate and a 10-year warranty. A sound default for a household of four. Too much grill if you cook for two.

Who should skip it
- You cook for one or two. 360 square inches is empty grate at that headcount, and a two burner costs less and takes less patio.
- You grill on a balcony where the building bans propane tanks. This is a liquid propane grill, and the natural gas version needs a plumbed line, not a workaround.
- A side burner is a hard requirement. This grill has two side tables and no burner on either.

The short answer
Buy the Spirit E-325 if a household of three to six eats off your propane grill most weeks. Three burners, porcelain-enameled cast iron grates, a 10-year limited warranty, and an unusually complete published spec sheet. Skip it if you cook for one or two. At 48.3 inches wide it takes real patio, and a two burner feeds two for less money.
The cooking area numbers
Weber lists 450 square inches of total cooking area and 360 of primary. The difference is the 90 square inch warming rack, which holds buns and finished food above the fire, not the burgers. When you size this grill, or set it against anything else on the gas grills page, use the 360 number. The 450 is real. It is just not where dinner cooks.
360 square inches of primary grate covers four people with room to stage, and stretches to six. For two people it is empty grate you are paying to heat.
The 31,000 BTU number
Weber rates the three main burners at 31,000 BTU per hour of input. Two things about that number.
First, it excludes the Sear Zone boost burners. Weber does not rate those separately, so no single published figure covers everything under the lid. 31,000 is the main burners and that is all it is.
Second, a BTU total on its own predicts nothing. Preheat and recovery track the output divided by the grate it heats, not the total. So carry the pair together: 31,000 BTU of input, 360 square inches of primary grate to spread it over. When a retail listing waves a bigger BTU number at you, ask for the grate area underneath it before you are impressed.
The natural gas question
Weber sells a factory natural gas version of this grill. That sentence does more work than it looks like.
It means nobody should convert this propane model. Weber sells no conversion kit. The kits that exist are third party, and fitting one voids the 10-year warranty. Conversion also means changing gas orifices, which is not a routine job and not one this site will describe. If your house has natural gas, buy the natural gas SKU and pay a licensed gas fitter to run the line to where the grill will stand.

Will it fit
Weber lists 48.3 inches wide, 26.6 inches deep and 46.2 inches tall with the lid closed. The number that catches people out is the other one Weber publishes: 60.50 inches with the lid open. Under a soffit, a window or a shade sail, the open lid is what hits first. Measure your spot against 60.50, not 46.2.
It weighs 98 pounds and rolls on two wheels. That is movable across a patio and not much further. Plan for it to live where you assemble it.
What Weber does not publish
No temperature range. No preheat time. No per-burner figure for the three main burners, and no rating at all for the Sear Zone boost burners. These gaps matter because gaps are where retail listings start improvising. If a listing hands you a number that Weber's own page does not carry, treat it as decoration.
